Season 31 of Dancing with the Stars will see Alfonso Ribeiro return, but in a new form. The 50-year-old will return to the air as Tyra Banks’ co-host on the program.
Long-time viewers of the program will recall how Alfonso Ribeiro was proclaimed champion after winning season 19 of the program. He and his companion Witney Carson stunned everyone with their performance, and they were declared the show’s victors.
Alfonso Ribeiro Returns To The Show
Ribeiro seems prepared to return and take on the new job, so it will be interesting to watch him as a co-host of the show. In the press release, he remarked, “Dancing with the Stars has been such a significant part of my life for so many years, and I am happy to officially re-join this tight-knit family as cohost.”
In addition, he is thrilled to co-host the program with Tyra Banks, a friend. As we begin this new season on Disney+, he stated, “Tyra and I have a longstanding bond that I hope will resonate with all of the fans at home.”
In addition to having won the competition in the past, Ribeiro is an actor, comedian, filmmaker, and television host. He gained notoriety for his portrayal as Alfonso Spears in the NBC comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He played Maxwell Stanton on In The House as well.
With such a fun-loving, devoted friend as cohost, Tyra Banks expressed her excitement, saying, “Having such a longstanding friend as cohost thrills my heart. It will be so much fun to exchange jabs with him in person!
She added that she has known Ribeiro since she was 19 years old and that each time they met, he made her smile. On eight episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the two of them collaborated as well.
Banks, commonly known as BanX, will co-host the program with Ribeiro. She is well-known for her work as a TV personality, businesswoman, model, and actress. She was the first black woman to appear on the swimsuit cover of Sports Illustrated.
For 23 of the show’s 24 seasons, Banks served as both the host and chief judge. She joined Dancing with the Stars 2020 as a host. When the show moved to Disney+, there were suspicions that she would leave, but those allegations have since been denied.
When she raged at a participant on America’s Next Top Model for not taking the show seriously, she stirred up some controversy. A petition was started to get Banks fired as the host of DWTS and return the program “to its previous glory.” However, the show’s creators retained Bank because they were confident in her skills.
The forthcoming season 31, which will instead show on Disney+, will mark the first season to not air on ABC. The change was made public in April of last year. The fall is probably when it will make its debut.
